About Fauji Foundation Company
Fauji Foundation, founded in 1954 as a charity trust, transfers around 80% of proceeds from commercial operations towards social protection programmes that serve a beneficiary population that accounts for approximately 7% of the country’s population.
Since its founding, the Foundation has spent more than Rs. 23.8 billion on welfare, providing services such as healthcare, education, educational stipends, and technical and vocational training.
Between 2011 and 2015, the foundation’s assets increased by 78%.
According to a 2017 survey, the Foundation hired 33 of 141 former Pakistan Armed Forces corps commanders, or 23.4% of those who retired from the military. At any given time, up to seven former corps commanders work as managing directors of the Fauji Foundation, the Army Welfare Trust, or as managing directors of subsidiaries, with persons in these roles rotating out every three years. According to the study, the Foundation serves an important role in preventing retired senior officers from interfering with the actions of serving officers or entering electoral politics.
